Privacy Policy

This page explains what information MarginMole may collect, why it is used and what rights users may have.

Last updated: 12 June 2026

1. Who this policy is for

This Privacy Policy explains how MarginMole may collect, use and protect information when you use the app.

MarginMole is currently an early-stage resale research tool. Some data is stored locally in your browser while the app is being developed. More server-side processing may be added later if accounts, payments, alerts and the real eBay API are connected.

2. Information we may collect

Account information, such as your name, email address and login details, if accounts are enabled.

Plan and subscription information, such as whether you are on Free, Pro or Reseller. Payment card details should be handled by a payment provider such as Stripe, not stored directly by MarginMole.

App usage information, such as scan usage, saved deals, Deal Monitors, alert results, watchlist items, CSV export actions and settings.

Search information, such as the marketplace search terms and filters you enter into the scanner.

Support information, such as messages you send to us, bug reports, screenshots or feedback.

Technical information, such as device type, browser type, approximate location, IP address, logs, cookies, localStorage and analytics data if those tools are enabled.

3. Browser storage and localStorage

At this stage, MarginMole stores some information in your browser using localStorage. This can include your plan setting, scan usage, watchlist, Deal Monitors and other app preferences.

LocalStorage helps the app work without a full account system. It also means some information may remain on your device until you clear browser data or the app removes it.

Do not save sensitive personal information in deal notes, watchlists or exports.

4. How we use information

To provide the app features, including eBay scans, Mole Scores, saved deals, Deal Monitors, Deal Alerts, dashboards and CSV exports.

To manage plan limits, such as free scan limits, saved deal limits and paid feature access.

To improve the app, fix bugs, understand usage and decide which features to build next.

To provide support, respond to questions and investigate technical problems.

To process payments and subscriptions if paid plans are enabled.

To show ads or measure ad performance if advertising is enabled.

To comply with legal obligations and protect the service from abuse.

5. Lawful bases

Depending on the feature, we may rely on different lawful bases under UK data protection law.

Contract: to provide the app, accounts, subscriptions and paid features you request.

Legitimate interests: to improve MarginMole, prevent abuse, measure performance, fix bugs and keep the service secure.

Consent: for optional cookies, marketing emails or analytics where consent is required.

Legal obligation: where we need to keep records or respond to lawful requests.

6. Who information may be shared with

Hosting providers and infrastructure services that help run the app.

Payment providers such as Stripe if subscriptions are enabled.

Analytics providers if analytics are added.

Advertising providers such as Google AdSense if ads are enabled.

Marketplace APIs or services when needed to run searches or connect features.

Professional advisers, regulators or authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Cookies, ads and analytics

MarginMole may use necessary cookies or browser storage to make the app work.

If analytics, advertising or non-essential cookies are added, the app should explain this clearly and ask for consent where required.

Ads may be shown to Free users. Paid plans may reduce or remove ads depending on the plan.

8. How long information is kept

LocalStorage data remains on your device until you clear it, delete saved items or the app updates/removes it.

Account, payment, support and usage records, if enabled, will be kept only for as long as needed for the purpose they were collected, unless a longer period is required by law.

CSV exports are created on your device. You are responsible for storing or deleting exported files.

9. Your rights

Depending on the situation, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, erase it, restrict its use, object to its use or receive a portable copy.

You may also have the right to withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.

You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your data is handled.

10. Security

We aim to use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information.

No website or app can guarantee perfect security. You should keep your account details secure and avoid saving sensitive information inside the app.

11. Children

MarginMole is not designed for children. Users should only use the app if they are old enough to understand marketplace buying, paid subscriptions and resale risk.

12. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the UK. If this happens, appropriate safeguards should be used where required by data protection law.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as MarginMole develops. The latest version will be shown on this page with the updated date.
